Something sounded off about this vid so I took my guitar out and started playing the intro/ intro solo and noticed it sounded different? I always thought Metallica played E standard?? Does anybody know what they tuned to in this vid? Or am I just mishearing?

The drums hit different in the live version
That Les Paul Kirk is playing was once owned by Gary Moore. The reason it sounded different than a factory Les Paul is because there was a defect that caused the pickups to be off phase, but that probably created this beautiful tone.
