I behan playing bass, I was amazed by that tapping lick at 2:25 , but it's obvious now that on the record it's a hammon on pull off with a divebomn. He has a Flying V in the clip so it creates a great illusion to mimic the audio. xD
I was there through the ages Chained slaves to their cages I have seen you eat your own I'm the cycle of pain Of a thousand year old reign I'm suicide and salvation The omen to nations That you worship on all fours I'm the infection and famine That's knocking at your door That's why you're feeling so Unholy Oh, I was created by man, you know I'm Unholy Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah I am the incubus, I lay the egg in you The worm that burrows through your brain But you are the beast that calls me by my name You send your children to war To serve bastards and whores So now you know You created me on the day that you were born Unholy I was created by man, yeah I'm the Lord of the Flies, you know I'm Unholy From the left hand of power comes the father of lies, yeah Unholy Unholy I lay you down to sleep Your soul to keep Better cross your heart before you die And now you know Know that you are mine That's why you're feeling so Unholy Unholy Unholy Unholy
Greed has been the nemesis of Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley. Much of the material KISS wrote and played while not looking for money has been the most incredible in their careers, but all those albums are not best sellers or simply neglected: Kiss I, The Elder, Creatures, Animalize, Revenge, Carnival of Souls. On the other hand, each one of those efforts was followed by a string of poppy cash attempts on the set milestone ending up in downhill disasters: the solo albums, Unmasked, Crazy Nights, Hot in the Shade, Psycho Circus, Sonic Boom, etc. And the cycle started again.
Of course, I'm not saying all of those albums are crap, there are still great songs in many. But I wish KISS had set themselves on being a hard rock / heavy metal band. They would have had the acceptance they were denied by many and wouldn't be touring as sorry cartoons of their former selves. I still like a good dose of the harder material here and then, it's part of my life.
Kiss should have kept Vinnie Vincent in the band regardless of how difficult he was to work with… Instead of the throw away garbage on Animalize, Asylum, Crazy Nights and Hot In The Shade we could have had five albums of Unholy and Not For The Innocent.
